Rozella Mackey

 

1918-2017

Rozella M. Mackey passed away October 11, 2017 in Bemidji, Minnesota. Rozella was born July 2, 1918 to Lydia (Myers) and Charles Arey, in Kelliher, Minnesota.

She married Carol D. Mackey on May 9, 1939 in Cass Lake; where she resided until 2012.  She moved to Windsong Apartments in Bemidji where she resided until September 7, 2017.
Rozella was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cass Lake for 71 years. She was also a past member of the Cass Lake Lions Club, the Senior Citizen’s Center, and the Good Sam Club.

She was an excellent cook, gardener, golfer and bowler.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and candle making. She loved music, dancing, and entertaining. She helped care for her two granddaughters.

Carol and Rozella loved camping and enjoyed several winters in Arizona and Texas, in their fifth wheeler meeting new friends and traveling with long time friends.

She adored her great-granddaughter, Cassie Anne.

She is preceded in death by five brothers: Herman, Joseph, John, Eirving and Alvin Arey; her husband Carol Mackey; and son-in-law Elmer Jacobson.  She is survived by daughter Lauretta Jacobson; granddaughters: Gwen, (Steve) Sliger, and Carmen Liberkowski; great-granddaughter Cassie Liberkowski, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Celebration of life will be held on Friday October 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cass Lake, Pastor Amanda Kossow officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
