Virginia Miller

1925-2017

Virginia (Ginny) Miller formerly of Nevis, died peacefully on November 9, 2017 in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Ginny was born on February 6, 1925 in Mantrap Township to Oren (Jack) and Mabel (Claessens) Bail. She attended school in Nevis, graduating with the class of 1943. She married Everett Miller, also of rural Nevis, in Stockton, California on January 14, 1945. After Everett’s discharge from the army at the end of World War II, they returned to Nevis and lived there for two years. Their first child Del was born during this time. In 1948 they moved to Minneapolis, where their three daughters, Janice, Marilyn and Norma, were born. In 1953 they moved to Bloomington, where they lived until moving back to the Nevis area in 1987. During their time in Bloomington, Ginny was a very active volunteer in her children’s schools, her family’s church and the community. She was considered a second mother to the other children in the neighborhood.

She enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, feeding the birds, especially hummingbirds, and watching the Twins and NorthStars. She was a wonderful cook and pie maker. She made everything from scratch – even grape juice! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her favorite times were family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oren and Mabel; and siblings, Ruby, Delmar and Norma.

She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Everett; four children: Del (Barb) Miller, Janice (Jim) Fallon, Marilyn Miller and Norma Johnson. She is also survived by four grandsons: Scott, Brian (Mary), Jason and Seth (Beverly) and two great-granddaughters: Louisa Rose and Beatrice Virginia. She is further survived by brother-in-law Dale Miller and sisters-in-law Evelyn and Helen Miller, plus many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 2 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Bethany Lutheran Church, 100 3rd Ave, Nevis, MN 56467 or the Nevis Senior Center, 114 Village Rd., Nevis, MN 56467.
