Wallace Miller

1937-2017

Wallace C. (Wally) Miller, 80 of Bemidji, Minnesota and formerly of Waverly, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Wally was born on June 7, 1937, in Tripoli, Iowa, the son of Harold and Lenora (Boevers) Miller. He was baptized on June 20, 1937 and confirmed on April 6, 1952, both at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. He attended school in Tripoli and graduated in 1955 from Tripoli High School. He served in the United States Army from June 22, 1955 to April 9, 1958. Wally was united in marriage on December 16, 1956, to Marlene Tegtmeier at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Tripoli. Wally farmed, worked at the Waverly Sales Company and retired in June of 1999, from the Bremer County Courthouse.

Wally enjoyed being outside, whether it was hunting, fishing or watching the birds. He was a member of the Whitetails Unlimited and the NRA. Together, Wally and Marlene were members of Immanuel Church in Cass Lake, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Miller; a daughter, Jeanette (Bruce) Long of Mason City; three sons: Gene (Carla) Miller of Plainfield, Keith (Amanda) Miller of Tripoli and Donald (Sandy) Miller of Clarksville; eleven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dolores Rush and two grandsons, Jeremiah and Travis.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Western Douglas with Pastor Kim Thacker officiating. Visitation was held on Friday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
