Janice Pollock

1941-2018

Janice Marie Johnson-Pollock, 76, of Park Rapids, Minnesota passed away on January 27, 2018 in St. Cloud.

Janice Marie Weatherly was born on April 5, 1941 to Elmer Byron and Marie Evelyn (Possin) Weatherly in Waseca. Her family farmed for a living in Waseca until Janice was nine years old. Janice’s family then moved to Pekin, North Dakota where they continued to farm for another five years until 1958 when they moved back to the Hastings area. Janice graduated from the St. Paul Park High school in 1959 with her high school sweetheart, Russ Johnson. Jan and Russ were united in marriage on December 23, 1959; they were blessed with two daughters, Kristi and Karen.

Janice entered Savings and Loan Association Business School and graduated in 1961. Janice continued her education in 1970 by entering Faribault School of Nursing, graduating in 1973. Janice worked as an LPN until she retired in 1996, due to health reasons. Sadly, in 1996, Russ passed away. Undeterred by life’s heartbreak, Janice selflessly went on to volunteer for many years, giving time and donations to many charities. During this time she met Daryl Pollock whom she married on July 28, 2007 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Janice was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in St. Paul and Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Nevis. Janice and Daryl were devoted Catholics and began every day with Catholic Daily Devotion.

Jan was proud of her nursing degree and loved working as an LPN until she retired. In her spare time she loved to quilt and volunteer for various charities. Jan also loved having coffee with friends and family while sharing jokes and laughing with them. Janice enjoyed many adventures with Daryl, among them dancing, canning and traveling.

Janice is survived by her husband Daryl; two daughters: Kristi Johnson and Karen (Jim) Zach; four grandchildren: Shane Piringer, Matthew Piringer, Bob (Nellie) Burns, Kelly (Lance) Vo; five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Hunter, Alexis, Jaxson and Logan; three step-grandchildren: Jeremy Zach, Christopher Zach, Joshua Zach and their families. Janice is preceded in death by her first husband Russell Johnson, great-grandson Michael and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 2 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Nevis. Celebrant will be Father Tony Fernando. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Hubbard City Cemetery. Janice’s family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that a memorial be given to a charity of your choice.
