Michael Thielen

1956-2018

Michael “Mike” Duwain Thielen, 61, of Nevis, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at home.

Michael was born on December 8, 1956 in Shakopee, the son of Donald and Mary Lou (Schroeder) Thielen. He grew up and attended school in Shakopee. He enlisted in the US Army in 1975 serving multiple enlistments increasing in rank. He served in Germany in an armored division as a trained tank operator, with a nickname of “Tommy Tanker.” Following his highly decorated honorable discharge he was employed by Muselof Flooring in Minneapolis as an installer and finisher. He moved to Nevis over twenty years ago where he has resided since. He was employed by Servicemaster in Park Rapids for many years as a respected restorer and cleaner, until his recent retirement in 2017. He enjoyed spending time with family, hunting and fishing, and woodworking.

He was a long time member of the carpenters union.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Thielen of Nevis; brothers: Daniel (Michelle) Thielen of Prior Lake, and James (Jean) Thielen of Shakopee; his loved and cherished niece and nephew, Johnathon (Tara) Thielen and Kristine Thielen. Many other family members and friends who mourn his death.

He was preceded in death by his father – Donald.

Funeral services were July 16 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis. Military Honors were provided by the Star of the North Marine Corp League Honors Team. Interment was at the Resthaven Cemetery in Nevis.
