Lynda Knudson

1943-2018

Lynda Lee Knudson, 75, Sebeka, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 7, 1943 in Valley Springs, South Dakota, to Oluf and Evelyn (Bernards) Nielsen. She started school in a country school near the home farm and later graduated from Brainerd High School in Minnesota. Lynda graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Medical Technology and worked at the U of MN hospital lab while attending and after school. Lynda married Roger Nickolai Knudson on April 3, 1971 in Brainerd. She and Roger moved to their farm near Sebeka and farmed together until 1986. She then worked as a medical lab technician in the area, retiring in 1998. Lynda had several part-time ventures including at the Wadena Public Library, volunteering for hospice, and her own machine embroidery and design company. She also enjoyed her garden club, working in her own gardens, her pinochle group, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her four children: Kristin (Curtis) Gustin, Cedar Park, Texas, Nicole (Jeff) New, Arlington, Texas, Joanna (Kiowa) Orre, Monticello, and Kevin (Chanel) Knudson, Sebeka; grandchildren: Michael, Maren, Katriana, Eli, Nicole, Nikolas, Michael, Oscar, and Clara; one brother, Steve (Julie) Nielsen, Nevis; two sisters: Elsie (Pete) Brouwer, Valley Springs, South Dakota and Julie Nielsen, St. Francis; two sisters-in-law: Patricia Nielsen, Brainerd, and Kathy Knudson, Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Roger (Bud) Nielsen, and infant sister Susan Nielsen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka. Friends may call at the Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, September 7 and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment services will be held at the Sebeka West Cemetery.
