Donald McCree

1940-2018

Donald “Donnie” George McCree, Jr., age 78, of Cass Lake, Minnesota passed away peacefully on October 15, 2018 at Neilson Place Senior Care Facility in Bemidji with his wife by his side. Donnie was born in Minneapolis on July 18, 1940 to Mary (Mattor) and Donald McCree, Sr.

Donnie was a very happy and fun guy to be around. He made friends easily which explains why he had so many friends. Donnie enjoyed all sports but he especially liked the Minnesota Vikings and #69, Jared Allen. He also liked riding the BT bus for softball. He liked hanging out and having a good time with his best friend John Kamerowski as often as he could. Donnie worked several jobs during his life and found that being a commercial fisherman in Sitka, Alaska to be one of his favorite, which led to a lifelong love of fishing. He also really enjoyed working construction, it gave him a chance to help many people with projects that needed to be done, which he loved. Donnie’s memory will be cherished by many for years to come.

Family that Donnie is reunited with are his parents; and his step-son, Mark Martin.

He leaves behind his wife, Marjorie McCree of Cass Lake; sons: John and James McCree both of Minneapolis; daughter, Teresa (Warren) Anderson of Florida; step daughters: Colleen and Katherine Martin; sisters: Ann McCree of Montana, Susan (Steve King) McCree of Washington and Sally Literski of St. Paul; grandchildren: Janet, Christina, Patricia, Joanna and Kristina; 13 great-grandchildren; his favorite nephew, Kevis TeJohn; other relatives and his many friends.

A Celebration Dinner for Donnie will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Pike Bay Town Hall in Cass Lake. In following Donnie’s wishes, his ashes will be scattered in Port Townsend, Washington at a later date.
