Rita Rowland

1949-2018

Rita Lee Rowland, 69, of Menahga, Minnesota, died on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the St. Joseph’s Area Health Services in Park Rapids, after a brief battle with cancer.

Rita L. Jensen was born on May 23, 1949 in Moorhead the daughter of Henry J. and Glenice V. (Turnbull) Jensen. She grew up, attended school and graduated from Borup High School in 1967. She went on to attend Moorhead Technical School for two years until 1969. She was united in marriage to James A. Rowland on March 1, 1969 in Felton. They lived in Larimore, North Dakota, the Park Rapids area and most recently Menahga. She was a lifelong bank employee, and was employed at the Northwoods Bank of Minnesota – Park Rapids branch – for 30 plus years retiring in 2011 as a loan officer. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, spending time in nature, and gardening. Duluth was one of her favorite places, and she loved being by the water. She will be remembered for her extreme thoughtfulness and the way she was always thinking of others.

She is survived by her husband Jim of Menahga; her two daughters: Michelle (Jeremy) Buehler of Deer Creek, and Brittany (Justin Edberg) Kruger of Las Vegas, Nevada; her three grandchildren: Alyssa (Eric) Youngquist, Dylan (Sydney Greenwaldt) Larson and Winter Edberg; her two great-grandsons: Breckyn and Cooper Youngquist; five siblings: Virgil Jensen of Ada, Greg (Carol) Jensen of Lisbon, North Dakota, twin sister, Renee (Jerry Olson) Brantner of Waubun, Timothy Jensen of Blaine, and Kim (Dale) Hoff of Crookston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday November 5 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday November 4 from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rapids. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
