Linda (Kvanvig) Adams

1949-2019

Linda (Kvanvig) Adams, of Portland Oregon, formerly from Minot, North Dakota, passed from this life of abundant joy to her heavenly home, December 23, 2018.

Linda, the oldest of the four Kvanvig kids, was born to Harold and Doris (Nelson) Kvanvig in Wadena, Minnesota on October 6, 1949 and raised in Sebeka. She was active in band, choir, Girl Scouts, piano, singing, reading, cooking, her church, and the family business, K’s Motel. Linda graduated with the Sebeka HS class of 1967.

On July 17, 1972 Linda was united in marriage to R. David Adams. They made their home in Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, and finally in Minot, all in North Dakota, where Linda worked various jobs in the medical field as well as banks, the Minot Daily News, tax offices, and several supervisory positions.

On January 18, 1983 God graciously answered Linda and David’s prayer for a son when Robert D. Adams was born. Robert was adopted into their family on March 23, 1983 and has brought so much joy and pride to his parent’s and to his extended family.

From a very young age Linda had a love for the Lord and music. Her passion and heart opened up many opportunities to minister in churches, schools, and community events. During the years spent in North Dakota, primarily in Minot, Linda reached out to many young adults, teens, and children who needed encouragement and a helping hand. Her passion and joy was very evident as she ministered to Minot students at the Oasis, a teen center that she ran for a few years. Her listening ear, compassion, firmness, encouragement, and love made a lasting impact on many young people. She made many life-long friends through these ventures.

In 2014, Linda moved to Portland, Oregon to be near her son, Robert and to enjoy the Pacific NW. She loved the mountains, the many hiking trails, the flowers and the beautiful parks in Portland. It was here in her home in Portland that she passed away surrounded by family.

Linda was an inspiration to many. Her love and commitment to Jesus Christ ran deep and she joyfully passed that on to those she met. Her journey going through cancer only strengthened her resolve to encourage others and speak of the love and goodness of her Saviour.

We are privileged to call Linda family. She is survived by her son, Robert (Geri Otteson) of Eagle Creek, Oregon; her former husband, R. David Adams of Harvey North Dakota; father, Harold Kvanvig of Aiktin; brother, Charles (Katie) of San Rafael, California; sister, Mary (Steve) Therneau of Grand Rapids; brother, Wesley (Jacque) of St. Cloud; aunt, Vi of Seattle, Washington; nieces and nephews: Beth, Caitlyn, David, Alex, Gunnar, and Lucy; step nieces: Rachelle, Andrea, and Dyane; many wonderful cousins, and a wonderful extended “family” of Sebeka.

Linda was proceeded in death by her mother, Doris Kvanvig; her special “sister” and cousin, Gloria Siltala; grandparents: Harry and Myrtle Kvanvig and Arnold and Edna Nelson; and uncle, Carl and aunt, Harriet Skulstad.

A memorial service for Linda is being planned and will take place this spring in Sebeka.

Memorials can be sent to Pacific NW Teen Challenge, in Portland, Oregon and Minot Youth for Christ, in Minot, North Dakota and they will honor her memory and be an extension of her heart.
Condolences can be sent to: Robert Adams 29888 SE Eagleview Drive, Eagle Creek, Oregon 97022
