Thomas Headbird

1963-2019

Thomas Hoss “Migizi” Headbird, age 55, of Cass Lake, began his spiritual journey on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, Minnesota. He was born on October 7, 1963 in Cass Lake, the son of Emmanuel and Helen (Losh) Headbird.

Hoss grew up in Cass Lake and graduated from the Bug School in 1983. Following school, he became an Archeologist for the Leech Lake Reservation. He was an avid book reader and also a family man who loved being with his kids and grandkids. Hoss also liked spending time in the woods taking pictures of his grandkids and just being in nature. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed pow-wows, ricing, fishing and being around his family. Hoss made the best fry bread and you could even buy one for a dollar. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

The family that Hoss joins again are his parents, Emmanuel and Helen; brothers: Randy, June, Gander, Birt and Kent Headbird; one sister, Endonis Baird; one grandson, Brenton Adams; numerous nieces and nephews.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his sons: Thomas (Brittany) Adams, Timothy (Ashley) Adams, Josh Senarighi and Jimmy Roper all of Cass Lake; daughters: Tammi (Paul) Adams, Leann Dick and Jamie Roper all of Cass Lake; Godson, David Dean of Cass Lake; fourteen grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Hoss will begin at 5 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019, and continue until the Traditional service, 11 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019 all held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Spiritual advisor will be Allen Hardy. Pallbearers for Hoss will be Thomas Adams, Timothy Adams, Jim Bellanger, Chuck Headbird, Paul Ortega, Marvin Hanson, Jordan Headbird and Dana Sargent-Dick. Honorary pallbearers will be “All his Grandkids.” Alternate pallbearers will be Josh Senarighi, Brenton “Food Stamp” Headbird, Donnie Harrison, Jim Harrison, Sr., Randy Needham, James Roper, Jr., and Brad Croaker. Interment will be held in the Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake Following the service.
