Marjorie Schwartz

1934 – 2019

Marjorie Ann was born on April 8,1934 to Irvin and Beatrice (nee Farr) Nelson in their home in Paddock Township, Ottertail County, Minnesota.
She attended White Oak district 216 and Sebeka High School before meeting the love of her life, Melvin Eugene Schwartz, in 1949. They were married on January 11, 1951 at the Parsonage in Menahga, and ultimately settled in Sebeka.

In addition to raising her children, she also babysat for several families and made Christmas wreaths in the winter. In 1975, Marjorie began working at Badoura Tree Nursery where she spent the next 25 years cultivating her love for gardening before retiring in 2000.

Marj had a great passion for sewing, baking and her church – frequently making Sunday Communion bread. Marjorie was a generous woman who shared her talents and was always making everyone’s favorite treats.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will cherish the quilts, blankets and even custom doll clothes made meticulously and with great love.
Marj loved growing a variety of flowers and her and Melvin were well known for their large garden, canning a variety of fruits, vegetables, and meats which were always shared with family and friends.

Marj resided at the Providence Villa in Sebeka and was reunited with her beloved husband of 61 years on March 30, 2019. She was 84 years old.

She is survived by her children: Patricia Kisacky (Dennis), Eugene (Tami) Schwartz, Pamela Horstmann, LuAnn (Tad) Hoefs, Joel (Pam) Schwartz; grandchildren: Michele (Adam) Steege, Ginger Rehm (John), Stephanie (Shawn) Jordahl, Colin (Lisa) Hoefs, Toni (Matt) Wien , Drew (Shikha) Schwartz, Taylor Schwartz, Mikaela Schwartz, Katelyn Schwartz (Omar), and Madalyn Schwartz; 13 great-grandchildren and her precious furry friend Macy; sisters: June (Dennis) Schmitz, Sharon (Roy) Hemphill, Linda (Marty) Covert; sisters-in-law: Kathy Nelson, Olga Schwartz, Betty Siirila, and Joan Salo.
