Ardith Holtan


Ardith Ruby Holtan, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born May 23, 1938, to Tillman Askvig and Rose (Borel) Askvig in Goldfield, Iowa. Ardith graduated from Goldfield High School in 1956 and was employed as a key-punch operator at Mayo Clinic, Iowa State University, and IBM from 1956 until 1963.

Ardith married Melroy Holtan on November 29, 1963, and became a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, baking for family and friends, going to her grandchildren’s sports events and bringing meals to those who were sick. Ardith liked to attend Hostfest in Minot, North Dakota as well as listening to old time music.

She is survived by her husband Melroy; sons: Bret (Karen) of Menahga, and Bruce of Moose Lake; daughters: Lori Bunkholt of Shorewood, Susan (Brad) Olson, of Glencoe, and Julie (Kelly) Condiff of Park Rapids; six grandsons; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Darlene (Larry) Kastler and Doris (Bob) Mayes and three sisters-in-law.

A Memorial Service was held May 11, 2019 at FaithBridge Church in Park Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to FaithBridge Mission Circle.

    We were friends of the family for many years. Since moving from the area , we visited them most summers when on vacation. We will miss her, but cherish the many good times we had together. Bless the memory of Ardith.
