Beverly Thielen

1939-2019

Beverly Mae Thielen age 79 of Park Rapids, Minnesota passed away at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids on July 16, 2019. Bev was born October 29, 1939 in Akeley to Joseph Amzi and Bessie Ann Blount Tatro.

Bev grew up and attended school in Akeley and Sacred Heart. She was united in marriage to John (Jack) Thielen on August 31, 1957 at Akeley United Methodist Parsonage. This union brought the blessings of four children – two daughters and two sons.

Bev worked at Brooks Café in Granite Falls with her sister, Verla for many years. She worked at Warner Manufacturing in Sacred Heart and Akeley. She worked at Festival Foods and J & B Foods in Park Rapids.

She also worked at the V.F.W. selling pull tabs. But her most important and joyful job was being a loving mom and grandma.
Bev was a member of the Akeley United Methodist Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She served as Board Treasurer, Board Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Leader.

Bev proudly served as a service member of the Park Rapids American Legion Post 212 for 45+ years. She was also a Lifetime Member, Ladies Auxiliary, Color Guard and Marching Tigerette of the Akeley Harold Harris V.F.W. Post 8508. She was a member of Tops.

Bev and Jack traveled the western states wintering in Oregon and later in Texas, summer time was spent camping and fishing. She enjoyed her flowers and watching the birds, listening to country music and reading. She cherished her kids and grandkids and making many memories. She had been battling for many years Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Bev will always be remembered for her loving heart and holiday gatherings.

Preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents, three sisters: Verla, Verna, and Kathy; five brothers: Vernon, Ralph, Virgil, Jr. and an infant.

Bev is survived by daughter, Donna (Lynn) Jordet of Sacred Heart; son, David (Dixie) Thielen of Park Rapids; daughter, Jacqueline (Nick Rhodes) Thielen of Jordan; Jeffery (Judy) Thielen of Park Rapids; grandchildren: Joshua Thielen of Illwaco, Washington, Cassandra Houim (Corey) of Fargo, North Dakota, Miranda Kary of Illwaco, Washington, Travis (Kiley) Jordet of Sacred Heart, Amber (Shaun) Wolf of Rosemount, Stephanie (William) York of Akeley, Alicia (Robert) Welsch of Lonsdale, and Brittany Becker of Park Rapids; great-grandchildren: Chandelle Thomas of Illwaco, Washington, Hailie Egstad of Fargo, North Dakota, Annabelle Thielen of Illwaco, Washington, Tegan Jordet of Sacred Heart, Tyler York of Akeley, Addison of Sacred Heart, Madalynn Welsch of Londsdale, Addalyn Kary of Illwaco, Washington, Caydence York of Akeley, Jayce Thielen of Illwaco, Washington, Dylan Wolf of Rosemount, Parker Welsch of Lonsdale, Adam “AJ” Becker of Park Rapids, Paytyn Welsch of Lonsdale, Alice Wolf of Rosemount, and McKenna Becker of Park Rapids; sisters: Bonnie (Cleo) Lanning of Akeley, and Marlene (Jerry) Johnson of White Sulphur, Montana; brothers-in-law: Harry Lecy of Akeley, Howard (Mavis) Thielen of Granite Falls, and Leonard “Skip” (Barb)Thielen of Renville; sister-in-law, Shirley Tatro of Akeley; loving nieces, nephews and some very special friends.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22 at the Akeley United Methodist Church of Akeley, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in the Akeley Cemetery.
