Lupe Rosillo

2000-2020

Lupe Rosillo, 20 years young, “Giiwaydin” which means “North Wind” of Cass Lake, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world from Bemidji, Minnesota on Monday, February 17, 2020. He was born in Winona, Minnesota on January 22, 2000 to Melissa “Missy” Gale and Michael “Angel” Rosillo.

Lupe attended the Cass Lake Bena and Trek North schools and graduated in 2018. He was a very good soccer player, helping Trek North win their first state trophy. Lupe was a very respectful, kind and gentle man. He loved all children and always took the time to play with them and make them feel special. He especially adored his niece Raynie Daze. Lupe loved to sing, and he enjoyed playing video games, having bon fires and just hanging out with his family and friends. He was well thought of and respected by all who knew him for his kind soul.

Family welcoming Lupe to the spirit world are his grandfathers, Michael Gale and Jesus Rosillo; great grandparents, Theresa and Charles Johnston; great-great grandma, Emma Bear and his aunt, Gloria Rosillo.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Deja Mattison of Bemidji; mother, Melissa “Missy” Padilla of Cass Lake; father, Michael “Angel” (Vivian) Rosillo of Mankato; sisters: Christina Elizondo of Willmer, Alexandra Gale of Cass Lake and Felica Burger of Mankato; brothers: Angel Rosillo of Cass Lake, Pastor Rosillo of St. Paul and Randy Burger of Mankato; grandmothers: Maxine Johnston of Cass Lake and Guadelupe H. Rosillo of Winebago; niece, Raynie Daze Gale; nephew, Chandler “Chan Man” Fairbanks; his best friends: Carlito Kingbird and Damian Benitez; good friends: Lauryn Jones, Dru and Jacob Brummitt; other relatives and many friends.

Lupe arrived to the Facility Center in Cass Lake on Friday, February 21. Wake services began and continued until his traditional service on Saturday, February 22 all held at the Facility Center in Cass Lake. Jay Saros was his Spiritual Advisor. Pallbearers for Lupe were Angel Rosillo, Alexandra Gale, Pastor Rosillo, Will Breidfjord, Michael Cloud, Kirk Budd, Cesar Benitez, Damien Benitez, Dru Brummitt and Jacob Brummitt. His honorary pallbearers were Carlito Kingbird, Raven White, Mish Cloud, Winter Cloud, Sergio Gonzales, Mauricia Kingbird, Alex Wittner and Scott Wittner.

Interment was in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Cass Lake following his Saturday services.
