1927-2020

Harold James Warmbold, age 92, of Menahga, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2020 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Menahga, Minnesota on Wednesday, August 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Erickson officiating. The pallbearers are all of Harold’s grandchildren. Military Honors will be held by Guy L. McDermit VFW Post #6206 of Menahga, Minnesota. Harold will be laid to rest in Menahga City Cemetery.

Harold was born to Adolph and Ethel (Olson) Warmbold on December 18, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota. When he was young the family moved to the Menahga area to a farm east of Midway where he attended country school, church, and helped on the family farm. He was drafted into the Army and served from 1945 to 1947 in Japan during the occupation of Japan.

On September 26, 1952 he was united in marriage to Valdean Tomperi in a double wedding with Valdean’s brother Leo Tomperi and his wife-to-be Mable Lund. Valdean and Harold had seven children and were married for 60 years and seven months until Valdean passed away on April 20, 2014.

Harold worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime, including being a Sewer and Water Construction employee in the Twin Cities, a field hand for RDO, and a part time job at Blueberry Pines Golf Course before retiring.

Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, family outings, and playing bingo – especially at the VFW in Menahga. He especially enjoyed playing with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Harold enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends and could strike up a conversation with anyone, even strangers. He loved playing golf whenever he could; he always tried to play in golf tournaments such as the Midway Snurdbirds Tournament, the Lions Tournament, and the Keranen Benefit Tournament. He was also an avid Vikings and Twins fan and rarely missed a game on TV.

Harold was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6206 where he served as Post Commander for three years and was an Honor Guard Member from 1958 to March 2020. Harold was secure in his faith and was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Menahga. He loved his family, country, and community.
