Anna Johnson

1935-2020

Anna Katie Yliniemi Johnson of Osage, Minnesota, aged 85, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2020, in her home surrounded by her family following a 35-year fight against breast cancer. She committed her life to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through serving His people.

Anna was born on October 21, 1935, to Samuel and Hilda (Kippola) Yliniemi, and was the youngest of fourteen siblings. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Frazee High School. She then studied cosmetology in Moorhead.

Anna married Stanley Rudolph Johnson in 1955 in Park Rapids. Together they had three children: Randolph, Clark, and Leann. Anna served for many years with several organizations, including the Osage Lions Club, Osage Township Board, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, among others. She was an avid gardener, quilter, bird watcher, and cook. One of her greatest joys was sharing the fruits of her garden and sewing machine with loved ones and those in need.

She was preceded in death by her mother Hilda, her father Samuel, her brothers: Wilbert, Hugo, Jalmer, Ervin, John (Oscar), Arthur, Adolf, George, Rudolph (Andrew), Arnold, and infant brother Einar; her sister Marie (Kamrud), her husband Stanley, and her infant son Randolph.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Clark (Mary Jo) Johnson of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Leann (Jim) Willenbring of Park Rapids; her two granddaughters: Sara Johnson and Cora Willenbring; her brother Elmer (Jake) (Madeline) Yliniemi, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

A private funeral will be held on November 30th at 1 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions currently in place, a memorial service will be held at a future date in 2021. Please visit St. John’s Lutheran Church of Park Rapids website for the funeral livestream: www.stjohnspr.org In lieu of flowers, Anna suggested donations be made to the Osage Lions Club, Salvation Army of Park Rapids, or CHI St. Joseph’s Health Hospice Care.
