1956 – 2021
Robert Eugene Smith (Bob) was born on October 5, 1956, and gloriously went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 27, 2021, at the age of 65. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Lennis and his siblings Billy, Karen, Lori and John. He is survived by his wife Paulette; siblings: Sharon and Carolyn; children: Tarah (Erik) and Jeremy (Michelle); grandchildren: Jaxon and Mason, and his beloved golden retriever Hazel.
Born to William and Lennis Smith in Texas, Bob enjoyed growing up in Guam and living island life with his brothers and sisters. After accepting Jesus Christ at the age of 16, Bob moved stateside for school at North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he met the love of his life and wife of 46 years Paulette, and they started their family. Bob enrolled in the Army in 1980 and was stationed in Korea for a year. After his service to our country, he continued his ministry. It was his honor to serve in churches in Michigan and Minnesota (Mt. Pleasant, Newberry and Bad Axe Michigan and Menahga, Minnesota) He devoted over 33 years to pastoring. In 2020 he relocated to Gilbert, Arizona with his wife, daughter, son in law and grandchildren in hopes to enjoy retirement.
Celebration services for Bob will be held in person and virtually on Saturday, November 6 at 11 a.m. (Arizona Time) at Sonrise Assembly of God, 75 W Olive Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85233 and officiated by friend and Pastor Rick Oller.
My heart goes out to you Paulette and to your family. Our Pastor Bob sure will be missed. We have the blessed assurance that he is face to face with his Jesus. Please know that we are praying for you and the family that the Lord will comfort and support you during this difficult time. My love to you all.
