Leslie Mattson
1938 – 2022
Leslie Mattson passed away at his home in Menahga on March 22, 2022 at 83 years of age. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Menahga City Cemetery, Menahga, Minnesota.
Leslie Louie Mattson was born to Edward and Florence Matson at home in Wadena, Minnesota on April 15, 1938. Leslie was baptized and confirmed through the Apostolic Lutheran Faith. He worked on the family sawmill growing up. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1956.
Leslie was united in marriage to Verna Esther Koski on November 14, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Kevin, Kurt, and Wanda.
He worked in construction at Peterson Construction in North Dakota. Then he worked as a journeyman carpenter in Minneapolis on the IDS building. When he returned to Menahga, he worked at RDO until his retirement.
Leslie enjoyed fishing, helping others with projects, and tinkering. He could fix everything he set his mind to. He was an avid flea market goer and had many garage sales.
He is survived by his children: Kevin (Penny Heldt) Mattson, Kurt (Missy Koski) Mattson, and Wanda Terrazas; his grandchildren: Kooper Mattson, Kailyn Mattson, Celeste Mattson, and Javier (Megan) Mattson; his great-granddaughter Wren Mattson, his siblings: Carol Haataja, Bernice Matson, Lester (Helen) Mattson, and Clarence Matson and many nieces, nephews, distant relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings: Lillian, Marvin, Clyde, Beverly, Raymond, Virginia, Irene and Albin.
