Jeremiah Alajoki 1932 – 2022
Jeremiah (Jerry) Alajoki age 90 of Menahga Minnesota died on June 7, 2022 under Hospice Care with Knute Nelson at the Mills Manor in New York Mills Minnesota
Jerry was born February 7, 1932 at home in Runeberg Township to Hugo and Elizabeth Neville Alajoki. Jerry attended country school until he was called to work on the family farm. After some time at the farm he ventured to Duluth to work on the ships as a deckhand, he then worked for wood conversions for about three years, then he returned to Park Rapids, Minnesota and worked at the Chevy garage as a mechanic for many years before returning to the family farm and dairy farmed until retiring the late 1990s. Jerry served his country from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War.
On May 2nd he married Sherlye Denman and they made their home in rural Menahga. Jerry enjoyed reading his Bible, doing crossword puzzles, deer hunting and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his brothers: William and Earl; sisters-in-law: Barb Maninga and Lynne Denman; brother-in-law Roger Denman and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Hugo and Elizabeth, wife Sherlye, brother Otto, sisters: Impi and Ilmi; sisters-in-law: Connie Denman and Geraldine Alajoki; brothers-in-law: LeRoy Denman, Wilfred Maninga and Walter Karkinen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alajoki Cemetery.
