Milford Kasper 1932 – 2022

 

Milford Willis “Mel” Kasper of Lake Monticello Virginia, passed away on June 1, 2022. Mel is the brother of Ardyth Corbin of Menahga.
Mel was the son of the late Fred E, and Grace (Langland) Kasper born on December 4, 1932 on the family farm in Wadena county, Minnesota. He graduated from Sebeka high school in 1950.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served as a radar technical instructor. He joined Boeing Airplane Company in engineering and design of military aircraft and jet helicopter research projects. Being a lifelong aviation enthusiast he earned his commercial pilot and flight instructor credentials. He instructed primary and advanced flight training for several years then joined Eastern Airlines as a copilot/flight engineer.
Upon leaving Eastern Airlines he returned to engineering and design and construction in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector until his retirement from the research facility at Merck in 1996. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Friendship Force.
In addition to his sister Ardyth, left to mourn are his wife Cheryl (Mirus) of Lake Monticello; two sons: Rick (Carol), of Federal Way, Washington, and Randall (Karen) of Ravensdale, Washington, three daughters: Trisa Kasper of Elkton, Maryland, Kathleen Kasper of Covington, Washington and Lisa (John) VandenBos of Villepreux, France as well as many grand children and great-grand children.
In addition to his parents, Mel was predeceased by his two brothers Warren, of Cherryvale, Kansas and Edward, of Branson, Missouri.
A remembrance gathering of family and friends will be held June 16, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Thacker Brothers Memorial Chapel in Palmyra, Virginia.
