Lorraine Vogt 1936 – 2022
Lorraine Margaret (Hasbargen) Vogt, 86, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residential Care Center in Sedalia, MO. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO.
Lorraine was born February 27, 1936 in Menahga, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence and Florence (Kimball) Hasbargen of Menahga, Minnesota. Don and Lorraine were married June 20, 1953 in Menahga, Minnesota on Lorraine’s family’s farm. They lived in Klickitat, Washington where Don worked for J. Niels Lumber Company as a crane operator. Lorraine was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed keeping a tidy home. She was a talented baker and seamstress; and her hobbies included gardening, playing piano, crocheting and knitting. Lorraine was a faithful follower of Christ and had a “no bones about it” discipline. She was very generous with both her time and energy. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, LWML Missions group and was LWML secretary in Yuma, Arizona. After Don’s retirement in 1968 the family moved to Gilbert, Chandler and Higley, Arizona. Lorraine worked as Postal Clerk and later, Postmaster at Higley United States Post Office. After Lorraine retired, they spent their active retirement years in Yuma, Arizona and Park Rapids, Minnesota. Don and Lorraine moved to Harrisonville, Missouri in 2012 to be close to family where they were members of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Vogt; one daughter, Debra Jean Hecht; a brother, Charles Hasbargen; and nieces: Brenda Waite, Gloria and Cynthia. She is survived by her children: Elaine M. Fordyce (Paul) of Harrisonville, MO; Carla J. Carter (Michael) of Windsor, MO; and Rodney Vogt (Sharon) of Marana, AZ; sisters: Lois Peterson (Charles) of Menahga, MN; Lucille Waite (Ken) of Eloy, AZ; Kathleen Spadgenske (Red) of Wadena, MN; Ardis Olson of Sebeka, MN; and Marlene Holte (Wayne) of Colorado; one brother, Curtis Hasbargen (Gwen) of Menahga and Park Rapids, MN; 12 grandchildren: Stanley Vanover, Michael Vanover, Tori Kemper, LeAnn Fordyce, Stacey Watring, Tamara Drenon, Michael Phillips, Misty Williams, Daniel Hecht, Angela Reese, Cheryl Wilhelmsen and Joshua Rainwater; and her great-grandchildren: Sarina, Levi, Kody, Jackson, Kimber, Maverick, McClain, Jorden, Ulrich, Camilla, Nolan, Jahiem, Jaren, Madison, Jonathan, Lucy, Steven, Hailey, Jordan, Naizak, Evander, Mahto, Tempest, Avery and Wyatt.
