He was born in Duluth, MN, on February 21, 1976, to parents Kenneth and Olga (Niemi) Wehmas. David graduated from Ankeny High School in 1995, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and music. David earned an Associate in Science from DMACC, studying Criminal Justice and Business. A highlight at DMACC was performing with the Choir at Carnegie Hall in 2007. Various jobs thru the years included Golden Corral at a younger age; later, he worked for Per Mar Security and, most recently, Walgreens in Ankeny.
David enjoyed playing Trivia every Tuesday night at the Yankee Clipper with a team that has been Des Moines City Champions. Karaoke, WWE, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Twins, comics, movies, Star Wars, and NASCAR, are things he enjoyed. Memories were made of traveling to Finland with his father to visit relatives there. A memorable accomplishment was in 1992 when he earned his Eagle Scout Award with Troop 638 out of Moorhead, Minnesota.
He was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake, MN, and confirmed at St Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny. His faith was very important to him and helped him thru many challenges, especially diabetes.
David is survived by his father, Kenneth (Joy) Wehmas of Ankeny; his sister, Paula Wehmas of Ankeny and brother, Pastor Neil Wehmas of Ida Grove, Iowa; and many relatives and friends, especially co-workers from Walgreens, classmates, and friends from The Yankee Clipper.
