Sharon Emery 1945 – 2023

Sharon Inez (Niskanen) Emery passed away on November 7, 2022 at Rio Vista Care Center, Peoria, Arizona.
Sharon was born December 26, 1945 at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota to Arnold and Lillian (Dormanen) Niskanen. The family moved to Minneapolis in 1958. Sharon attended school in the Minneapolis public school system but returned to Sebeka during High School and graduated on May 28, 1963. She worked a few various jobs and attended the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing.
Sharon met and married Roger Emery of Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Omaha where they had their family, son Sean and daughter Sara. Sharon went back to college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She got a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree and then a master’s Degree. She remained at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as an advisor to International students until she retired.
Sharon was proceeded in death by her father, Arnold Niskanen and mother, Lillian Niskanen. She is survived by Sean Emery of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Sara (Ted) Graf, and granddaughter, Sage of Wesley Chapel, FL. She is also survived by her siblings: sister, Shirley Johnson of St. Louis Park, MN; brothers: Stanley (Carol) of Greenville, SC, Russell of Becker, MN, Floyd of Mesa, AZ, Jim (Sharon) of Dassel, MN and Eldon of Mesa, AZ, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A Memorial Graveside service will be held at the Red Eye Cemetery, north west of Sebeka on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served after the Memorial Graveside Service at the Hub 71 in Sebeka.
