Theresa Hill 1928 – 2023

Theresa Hill, age 94, of New Brighton, Minnesota (formerly of Menahga, Minnesota) passed away on October 6, 2023, at her daughter’s home in New Brighton. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church in Hermantown, Minnesota with Pastor Brian Witta officiating. Theresa will be laid to rest at Alajoki Cemetery, Menahga, Minnesota, at a later date.
Theresa Arlene Grangruth was born on November 13, 1928, to Herman and Lydia (Johnson) Grangruth in Menahga, Minnesota. She attended school in Menahga through the 8th grade. Theresa helped on the family farm and worked as a waitress in town. She later made her home in Cloquet, Minnesota, where she worked at Diamond Match.
On January 9, 1953, Theresa was united in marriage to Kenneth “Ken” Hill in Esko, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with seven children: Janet, Vickie, Wayne, Kevin, Jon, Lori, and Steven. Together they made their home in Cloquet until purchasing a farm northwest of Duluth, Minnesota. In 1993 they moved to Menahga, Minnesota. Ken passed away on January 25, 2015. Theresa made her home in New Brighton, Minnesota.
Theresa enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing, and gardening. She loved to read and go to thrift stores. She was a member of the Faith Bridge Women’s Missionary in Park Rapids.
Preceding Theresa in death are her parents: Herman and Lydia; husband: Ken; children: Janet, Lori, and Ron; brothers: Wilmer, Clifford, Earland, Armas, Carl, and Roger; sisters: Thelma and Martha; and grandsons: Jason and Joshua.
Surviving Theresa are her children: Vickie (Bill) Huard of New Brighton; Wayne (Jody) Hill of Saginaw; Kevin (Vicki) Hill of Tower; Jon Hill of Richville; and Steven Hill of Saginaw; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister: Vida Lukkanen of Alexandria; brother: William (Janice) Grangruth of Cloquet; many other relatives and a host of friends.
