Wayne Maaninga 1955 – 2023

Wayne Gordon Maaninga, age 68, of New York Mills, Minnesota passed away on October 7, 2023, at the Mills Manor.
Wayne Gordon Maaninga was born on April 25, 1955, in Park Rapids, Minnesota to Melvin and Darlene (Downer) Maaninga. He graduated from the Menahga High School.
Wayne was united in marriage to Sharlene Parent (Stoering) for a time before divorcing. Wayne was blessed to have four children in his life: Andrew “Andy”, Kristen, Dale and Mitchell.
Wayne worked as a maintenance mechanic at Simplot in Grand Forks, North Dakota for 32 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, working on cars or his house, and family vacations in the summer. Wayne was a hard worker, and he also liked to have fun. He loved to share a good story and was somewhat of a practical jokester like his dad, Melvin.
Wayne is survived by his children: Andy Maaninga, Kristen Maaninga, Dale McDanal, and Mitchell Maaninga; his three granddaughters: McKenzie, Stormy, Jazlynn; his mother Darlene; and his siblings Myrna Baumgart and Darryn Maaninga.
He is preceded in death by his father Melvin and brother Bryan.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
