Dean Dobson 1933 – 2023

Dean Dobson, age 90, of Milwaukee, WI passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma and daughter, Mary (Thomas) McCann. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Julia (Dimitry) along with their children Lucas and Elliot; Tommy (Jen) along with their children Margot and Peter; Michael (Jori) along with their child Hazel; and Patrick
Dean lived in Milwaukee for 72 years, but grew up on a dairy farm in Northern Minnesota in a town named Nimrod. There he lived with his parents and his five siblings: Dale (Janice), Della (the late Don), Donna (Ron), the late Dwane (Joyce) and the late Dwight (Edith). He graduated from Sebeka High School in 1951. Dean was honored to serve his country within the Army branch of the military. There he did exclusive training to become a security teletype communication specialist.
Following his service, Dean settled in Milwaukee where he met his dear wife, Norma. They were married in 1957 and were blessed with 66 years of marriage together.
Family was a very important part of Dean’s life. He was a loving Dad to their daughter, Mary. He was always present and involved with his four grandchildren. Known as Papa Milwaukee, he was adored by them along with many family friends as well. A new role developed as he became Great-Papa Eye Patch to his beloved great-grandchildren. They were a joy to him in his later years.
Dean was employed for 31 years at the Allen Bradley Company. He retired after working different shifts and in various departments. Dean retired with many life long friendships. (He was always proud of never once being late for work).
From an early age Dean always enjoyed working with wood. From building a garage and sauna to creating Christmas decorations Dean spent many hours in his workshop. He was a perfectionist on refinishing furniture and well-worn wood items. His greatest joy was the doll cradles and toy cupboards he made for children.
Throughout his life Dean was committed to his faith. By his words and actions, he served the Lord. He was an active member of his church. Always ready to volunteer, Dean served as an Elder and Sunday School Director. He was also a member of building maintenance and the outreach program within the community.
Dean touched the lives of many others. His kind spirit and genuine thoughtfulness will be greatly missed. He gave us a beautiful example of how to be true and dedicated to one’s faith. family, and friends.
