Joan McGuire 1937 – 2023

Joan M. McGuire, 86, Nevis, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, Nov 6, 2023 at the Essentia Health of Fargo.
Joan Mary LaHoud was born January 13, 1937 in Minneapolis the daughter of Richard and Agnes (Beseman) LaHoud. She grew up in NE Minneapolis attending Edison High School, where she graduated in 1954. She was united in marriage to Ronald E. McGuire on June 25, 1955 in Richfield. The young couple remained in the Twin Cities and eventually they settled in Lino Lakes. In 1973 they moved to Akeley before moving to Nevis Township in 1981, where she has resided since. Ronald passed away in 2012. Joan worked for the Ah-Gwah-Ching State Nursing Home in Walker, as a Housekeeper. After a long career she retired in 1999.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society for Ladies, she was an active member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church. She loved raising flowers and gardening, and she was known as a social butterfly.
She is survived by her two sons: John (Cheryl) McGuire of White Bear Lake, and Patrick McGuire of Nevis; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ron, and her daughter Sue Miller, and her brother Richard LaHoud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Nevis. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Interment will be held at the Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Cemetery in Nevis.
