John Belch 1937 – 2023


The Mass of Christian Burial for John “Jack” Belch of Sebeka was celebrated on Friday, December 29, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Jean-Claude Duncan as celebrant.
After a short illness, Jack passed away at the age of 86, with Lucille at his side on December 23, 2023, at Perham Health Care in Perham, MN.
John “Jack” Richard Belch was born to Thomas and Alma (Zwack) Belch on August 20, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN. His family later moved to Wadena where Jack graduated high school. He joined the U.S. Army April 23, 1956 and served until his honorable discharge on April 16, 1959.
Jack met Lucille “Lucy” Ann Kempf and they were married at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church on September 1, 1962. They made their home in rural Sebeka where they raised their children, D’Juana, Allen, and Terry.
Jack was employed in the warehouse and as a sales representative with Wadena Builders Supply in Wadena. In his time away from work, Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a dedicated volunteer to the 4-H Dog Project and Leader Dogs For The Blind. He was also a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Preceding Jack in death were his parents, Thomas and Alma; daughter, D’Juana; son, Allen; and sister Joan Pavlacky.
Surviving Jack are his loving wife, Lucy of Sebeka; son Terry (Mary Lou) Belch of Waco, TX; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; siblings; Elizabeth Muschia, Robert Belch, Mary Dahle and Donald Belch; along with a host of extended family, friends, and neighbors.
Serving as pallbearers were Justin Belch, Jason Belch, Mark Belch, Jonathan Belch, Miles Schoon, Joe Schoon, and Tom Kemper.
Military honors provided by the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN.
Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena, MN .
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack’s name may be directed to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Wadena County Humane Society or a charity of your choosing.
