David Ehnert 1950 – 2024

David A Ehnert, 73, of Sebeka, Minnesota passed away at Perham Health on January 11, 2024, from COVID complicated by underlying health issues. Memorial Services were held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka, Minnesota with Pastor Thomas Kolden officiating. Congregational Hymns were accompanied by Hilda Mary Schoon. David will be laid to rest at Haycreek Cemetery, Sebeka, Minnesota at a later date.
David was born to Milton “Dale” and Mabel Ethel (Rix) Ehnert on June 12, 1950 in Wadena, Minnesota. David attended one year of country school in Blowers Township before going to the Sebeka School where he graduated with the class of 1968.
After graduating high school he attended Staples Vocational school where he attained a degree in Machine Tool Technology. He went on to work in Staples while also farming, which was his true passion.
He married Lois Birkholz and was blessed with two boys, Derek and Justin. Throughout the years he was also employed at other tool and die shops in Alexandria and Wadena. He was united in marriage with Rhoda Jean Kratzke in 1991 and blessed with three more children: Jennifer, Donna and Daniel.
They made their home closer to Dale and Mabel near Sebeka where Dave continued to farm. As time allotted David enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, fishing and the occasional trip with his family.
David is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Rudolph H. and Tena L. (Eckre) Kratzke and his nephew Scott Ohm. His grandparents were Herman and Ruth (Johnson) Ehnert and Lloyd and Jennie (Zimmer) Rix.
David is survived by his wife Rhoda, and children: Derek (Kate) Ehnert, Justin (Ann) Ehnert, Jennifer (Trey) VanOrsdel, Donna (Dan) Houchin and Daniel Ehnert. His grandchildren Maddie, Aubrey, Grace, Harper, Lincoln, Sara and Dawson. His uncle Ron (Carol) Ehnert, and his aunts Helen Sundberg and Arlene Rix, siblings: Ron (Janet) Ehnert, Sue (Russ) Ohm, Sandie (Paul) Doll and Sheila (Tim) Puttonen and numerous nieces and nephews.
