Bruce Edward Brown, fully prepared, passed from his earthly home at rural Verndale surrounded by his family to his heavenly home, in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the age of 78 years. He was gently cared for by the Knute Nelson Hospice & Homecare and Astera Health of Wadena.
Bruce was born to Hiram and Edna (Denny) Brown at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, MN, on March 7, 1945. He attended Verndale Public School, graduating with the Class of 1963. Bruce was united in marriage with Patricia Kemple in 1963. In their years together, Cindy, Dennis and Heidi were born. Bruce and Pat decided to separate ways. He met and later married Barbara Jean Koenen on February 3, 1978, in Watertown, SD, followed by Amy and Jeffrey joining the family.
After graduation, Bruce started working for Olson Construction and went on to work for Rich Brown Masonry. By 2002, Bruce became self-employed until his retirement.
In his hours away from work, Bruce liked to go deer hunting, fishing, and on trips to Alaska and Tennessee. He enjoyed gardening and mowing the lawn. Most of all, Bruce loved being with family, watching his grandkids in sports, and coffee with friends.
Preceding Bruce in death are his parents, Hiram Brown and Edna Brown Henschel; stepdad, Erwin Henschel; two angel babies; grandson, Cody Brown; grandparents; and in-laws, Melvin and Mavis Koenen.
He will be greatly missed by all who know he is now where he wanted to be.
