In Loving Memory of Marlene West (June 28, 1938 – March 6, 2024)
Marlene West, a devoted mother, and grandmother, passed away on March 6, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. She was a dedicated mother to Deb Weimelt, Sherry Goodman, Pat Rasmussen, Becky West, and Peter West. Marlene’s greatest joy came when she was in the company of her grandchildren: Luke, Joseph, Cassandra, Benjamin, Bailee, Braden, Bo, Hadley, Macy; and her great grandchildren: Angel, Ozzie, Remy, Nola, Dominic, Juniper, Jameson, Lily, Elena and Charlotte.
Marlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry West, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and happiness. Their enduring bond serves as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Marlene was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a skilled seamstress, creating beautiful garments with her expert hands. For many years, Marlene ran her own business, Marlene’s, in Downtown Lakeville. At Marlene’s she did lettering on jackets and jerseys for local schools as well as community sports teams, bowling leagues and first responders. She made custom dresses for weddings, proms and special occasions – touching the lives of countless individuals.
Not only was Marlene a gifted seamstress, but she also had a passion for bowling. She cherished the friendships she found through bowling, creating lasting memories with her fellow bowlers. Spending many afternoons at Lakeville Bowl sipping on Diet Pepsi and throwing strikes.
Marlene loved country music especially artists like Conway Twitty, George Jones, George Strait, Randy Travis and Clint Black. Their music filled her heart with joy and provided the soundtrack to her life.
She loved loading up the R.V. and heading off to one of many Country Music Festivals or gathering family and friends for Labor Day weekend camping and bean bag tournaments.
Marlene West will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, generosity, and love will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
