Nancy Nordquist 1956 – 2024

The memorial service celebrating the life of Nancy Nordquist of Wadena will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena with Pastor Nate Loer presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery in Verndale, MN.
Nancy, age 67, passed away with family at her side on March 1, 2024, at Sanford Health Care in Fargo, ND.
Nancy Ann Nordquist was born September 26, 1956, to Martin Fredrick and Louise Emma (Henry) Nordquist in Wadena, MN. She was baptized into faith October, 1956 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Homestead Township, MN Along with her siblings: Dwaine, Larry, Cheryl, Judy, John and David, she grew up on the family farm in rural Sebeka. Nancy attended school in Sebeka. Her dad passed away in 1964 and her mom married David Tullis in 1971 (they were divorced in 1979). The family moved to Wadena where Nancy graduated from Wadena Senior High School May 31, 1974.
Nancy had a son, Christopher Allen on January 14, 1985. In August of 1987, she married Roger Moske who adopted Christopher. Roger and Nancy were blessed with a daughter, Shannon Louise (April 22, 1988). The family made their home in Wadena. Nancy worked for Homecrest Ind. in the outdoor furniture strapping, packaging and shipping area from 1974 to 1992. The couple divorced in 1992. Nancy continued to live in the Wadena area and raised her children. Christopher died in an accident in November 2001. Nancy developed critical health issues shortly after this time and resided in a care center while these were resolved. Shannon had begun to live in a residential foster home “The Lighthouse”.
When Nancy’s health issues improved, she lived in Humphrey Manor apartments and worked for “Rising Phoenix”, a thrift store in Wadena. She met James Aag at work in 2010 and the couple married in 2011. They lived in an apartment in Wadena. Shannon lived in a foster home with a family and worked for DAC. Nancy and Jim were divorced in 2018. Shannon stayed for long weekends with Nancy several times a month. Nancy liked to crochet, read, go for walks and spend time with family and friends when she could.
Survived by her daughter Shannon Moske of Perham; sister Cheryl (James) Lexcen of Cedar, MN; brothers: Dwaine (Shari) Nordquist of Elk River, John (Julie) Nordquist of Fosston and David Nordquist of Anderson, MO; 13 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; along with special friend James Aag of Wadena.
Preceded by her son Christopher (2001), parents, Martin and Louise; brothers, baby Nordquist (1961) and Larry Nordquist (2008); sister Judith Kari (1998); grandparents, Bengt “Ben” Fredrick and Mayme “Ellen” (Bengtson) Nordquist, Maxim “Michael” Joseph and Rachel Mary (Monty) Henry; and sister-in-law, Bunita Nordquist.
Honorary urn bearers will be all who called her friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Nancy’s name be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
